From city to summit in the Alpha SL

I find myself to be like most kiwi girls; born and raised in the city but with a good solid foot in the door for the outdoors.

Living in a city that had all types of retail therapy flattened by earthquakes… I decided it was time to take the first real steps towards adventure. With the city on it’s knees and my local haunts destroyed, boredom crept in so quickly that it only took a matter of months before I found myself yearning to explore the New Zealand outdoors. Reflecting on it now I was silently embarrassed to be a true blue kiwi who hadn’t explored her own back yard.

To make the plans was only half the job done, taking small steps into the wild outdoors is no playground to take light heartedly. Serious adventure means serious equipment; so I scooped myself up an Arc’teryx Alpha SL Jacket.

Because the jacket was so light and easy to fold into itself; I could wear it to work while it rained and then pack it way into my bag at the end of the day if it cleared with no hassles. It really proved itself when I hiked up Avalanche Peak – being hit by a storm that brought 100km/hr winds and rain, the Alpha SL kept me completely dry and protected.

Late last year I got into snowboarding and once again I was diving into a new adventure with a lack of equipment, but I was advised that my Alpha would handle my introduction into the sport and the Wintery conditions without problem.. They weren’t wrong.  Even though I was spending most of my time on my back end at the start of the season – it kept me cool when the sun was out, kept me dry when there was a white out, and never rode up when I fell…. many of times. Thankfully with the Alpha, I’ve bought myself the correct clothing for snowboarding, tramping, mountaineering and pretty much any adventure that New Zealand can throw at me.

My Arc’teryx Alpha SL jacket has been my first and probably only jacket purchase for the next 5-10 years; it speaks quality and will last, even with the amount of wear I’ve put it through.

On top of everything it’s a great colour and the Arc’teryx brand as a whole delivers quality and performance where you need it the most.
